Actually, it depends. If I was on a trip, I wouldn’t do a longer hike (like 3 miles ~ 5km) unless there were at least 5 on the trail. If I were near home and had already found a lot of the local boxes, then I might undertake a longer hike for only one box.
For me, the hike is the fun part, and finding boxes is the “kick start” I need to get out on the trail. I would only really need one box to get me going on that hike.
I don’t actually think 5km is really that long.
