The weather was great today. Sunny and +2. No snow. I had the afternoon to myself, so despite the beginnings of a cold, I got out and hunted for tupperware. My goal today was Burlington and Waterdown.
First stop was a cache in Waterdown in an old hopper near a quiet walking trail. Very nice relic and location and hide. One of 2 favourite caches of the day.
Next stop the old library. Libraries are fantastic and old libraries are a treat. I especially liked the stairwell. Such lovely old windows and the staff have down a nice job decorating it with a winter theme.
Then I went outside to find the micro that I knew was somewhere outside the library. I’m not keen on micros (especially nanos which are half the size of the tip of your pinkie finger). But I figured, since I was here, I’d give it a go. My phone app pointed me to the back of the library. There was a woman there walking her dog on the grass. So I non-chalantly walked past. When I looked back I saw she had a cell phone in her hand and kept looking at it and then the chain fence. Ah ha! Another geocacher! I figured the 2 of us would have a better chance of finding a micro, which turned out to be a nano – she showed me a photo that she downloaded of the nano. We teamed up but after 5 minutes she had to go. I stayed another 5 minutes but no luck.
So on to Order of the Lion. A quick stop for a small cache on Magnetic Hill right by the illusion. My GPS said there were 2 caches by the shore so I stopped again. My dog needed a walk so this was a nice place to stretch our legs. The first cache is supposed to be under a viewing platform but I didn’t see it. Climbed some boulders and looked under the deck – no luck. The next cache was all the way down the promenade in a huge willow tree. The walk over was picturesque and quite comfortable considering it was early February. Lots of people walking and enjoying the weather.
Back in the car and resumed the drive to Order of the Lion. There were guys at the diamond throwing a ball so I made a feeble attempt then decided to leave it for another day when there were no people around and I could do a better search.
Next stop….Burlington Public Library for another Bumble box. This time I did a bit more searching in the library catalogue and came up with 2 call number possibilities. Got it on the 2nd one. It was near where I had initially searched the first time I tried, a few months ago. Fun stamp.
I love this public library – the layout is nice. The windows, the wood, the wide stairs. Good design.
On the way out I stopped at the Circulation desk and bought a BPL bag.
Next stop 76 Trombones. An easy grab. Not busy. I was surprised to see that I was the 2nd visitor. Loved the stamp. Well done.
It was time to head back home. On my way back I managed to get 3 more caches ending with a nice one on the Bruce Trail by a pond at dusk with the Burlington lights in the distance.

I am so jealous. I want to get out letterboxing. I haven’t been out since September! Every time Hal is home we are either too busy (we moved this past weekend) or the weather is lousy. So glad you had a nice trip.
It really is amazing to have good weather to be out and about this time of year, isn’t it? I got lucky enough to get out yesterday and find five caches and three letterboxes. And that was with a late start! Glad you got to get some finds, too!
