2 Cats in a Dog Park: Cats Eyes
September 25, 2006 by TheCarterFamily
Me again. This was our 4th Letterbox ever. NorthernSeals, my daughter and I went finding while my wife talked to a muggle. We educated her on the sport of geocaching while she educated us on dogs. We really liked the stamp ideas of these letterbox. Well my daughter really likes it. I’m covered in stamps from the three we did… good thing I work from home so people won’t laugh at me…

Our last find for the evening, it was pretty dark by the time we got to the cache location, but we got lucky and found it right away (without the light, in fact). Guess we had cat’s eyes of our own tonight! Broke out the headlamp to stamp the logs, though. Thanks for the fun — we really enjoy the letterbox caches.

An easier find than “Miniscule”, but still nicely hidden. We paused for a moment to have a look at the pretty little stream behind the cache site. Thanks for the cache and for setting up a two-fer!

Had a fun hunt with our team trying to find the way in to this one. Excellent camo, it was hidden very well. A great night out with Northernpenguin, Keith Watson, Flamejobgirrl, Crystal Dawns and Dreadnaught. Liked the stamp! TFTC.

Being a cat-lover, I really liked this little stamp. I loved the fact that it was to be found among all the dogs (and their “by-products”). Thanks for the cache.

Last cache for the day (10th). Took some looking but persistence paid off. A great hide. Saw one deer on the way in and four others just east of the cache. Watched them while they watched me for about five minutes. SL TFTC

These letterboxes are a nice twist on “caching”, I enjoy following the directions instead of a GPS for a change. Nice area. TFTL

There was a wedding going on at the Center today, so there was lots of activity in the parking lot. Found the letterbox using the coordinate method. Beautiful job creating the stamp there J.A.R.S.I did a bit of surfing and reading on letterboxing last night. Very quaint practice, isn’t it. One can imagine young Victorian girls playing this “secret” game in their vast gardens. Kinda makes one want to trade in ones camo covered Canadian Forces Field Message Book for Lady Cottington’s Pressed Fairy Journal. (visit link)

Enjoyed turning off the GPS and letterboxing our way to this one. Traded stamp images and went on. Thanks.

As I was driving up from the 401 into Guelph, a huge downpour hit the area. Great, I thought, but I’m still going into the forest! Just as I pulled up to the trail, the rain stopped. There was only the odd sprinkle for the next few hours, so it was great caching weather — cool and fresh clean, air. A few puddles, but my hiking boots are pretty much waterproof!Anyway, just as I was approaching the cache, TWO deer bounced into the forest. The thing that was most noticeable was their puffy white tails. I couldn’t tell if one of them had a red nose…

Having just got back from caching on Dartmoor, the home of letterboxing, it was nice to find the first of many today in Guelph. Shared Neaders stamp. Going to have to get one of my own. Thanks for the visit.

Parked on Rogers Road and just after I entered the woods I spotted a young doe, grazing on the little vegetation to be found there on the forest floor. She was either very accustomed to human presence or very hungry. Instead of the usual bounding leap and flash of white tail that I see when I spot a deer, she continued to graze, keeping an eye on me, and keeping her distance, but not in any particular hurry. As Steve Irwin would say, “She was absolutely gorgeous.”
Found the letterbox, more using the letterboxing method than the GPSr as the foliage made the signal very weak. Had to search for a blank disk to make my mark. There’s only four or five blank sides left. Got my impression of Fido and friend. Once again J.A.R.S., nice job. You’ve certainly elevated the artistry of our hobby!

What a great tract of land. I’ve been living in the area for 8 years and never been here.My GPSr somehow downloaded the wrong coordinates for this cache. Luckily I was able to check the coordinates via a WAP browser. Got the right coords and found the cache without problem.
Left a stamp, thanks to my wife

It’s always fun to walk over this neat old bridge. But who was McQuillan? We did this half by letterbox directions and half by GPS. Funny thing, both methods zeroed in on the same place. Thanks for the cache.

I think that I just missed meeting other cachers in the parking area. I was at the back of my van changing into boots as they pulled away. I got the needed info and headed off to find the cache. As always with J.A.R.S. caches, I liked the detail of the logbook. It was nice to visit the bridge again. Thanks for the cache.

The second cache of the day and the last of the series. The kids really enjoyed this series. The stamps really got a good workout as everyone had their own book to stamp in. They are now bigger fans of the letterbox cache than a regular cache.
